History of Louisiana Lodges

A Brief History of Ruston Lodge 106

Ruston Lodge began its’ existence in Vienna, Louisiana located in Jackson Parish. It was granted a dispensation from the Grand Lodge of Louisiana in 1850 and was chartered by the Grand Lodge on January 29th, 1852.

In 1873, Lincoln Parish was created out of parts of Jackson, Bienville, Claiborne and Union Parishes. In 1884, Ruston became the Parish seat. Lodge 106 remained in Vienna but, since most of the businesses in Vienna moved to Ruston after a railroad line now came through that town, the members of Vienna Lodge moved also and in 1892 it was permitted to change its’ name to Ruston Lodge No.
